How do I fix the natural indigo dye in batik hemp fabric? I bought some hemp dyed with indigo made by the H'mong people of northern Vietnam. Cheap way to make a Batik? Ok, so I was in art class and we had this project to make and it was called a Batik, its a tradtion that Mexicans make for the Day of the Dead holiday. What kind of fabrics for batik? Can I use muslin to get started? Trying to find just the right pattern for custom curtains for our oddly-shaped corner windows (one is 60x46 and the other is 30x46, so want to do it myself and use a striped pattern all the way round, to keep a vertical visual line and tie one side into the other.) Does Israel have any indigenous fabric arts - e.g. like ethnic patterns or design prints? Can anyone tell a little about batik painting? Does anyone has batik collection in various forms? I know most of them come up on fabrics, it can be a dress, shirts, and pillow cover. Even some folks created them into wall hanging arts for interior decoration. But my real question is what is so good about it? They can be either arts or crafts, or even both. I know for some patterns they are fairly expensive because it is painted by hand. But people loving it, well not all but some do, and make it their collection. I think we can always print the same sort of patterns, or even better quality products with computer generated design and produce the fabric with textile printing machine.... I guess.... What would be a good title for this clothing label? i received an email and offered me a job as independent contractor.? since i am unemployed and needed income to pay my bills, i accepted the position. 1 week later, this person sent me a cashier's check worth of $4000.00 and gave me instructions how to handle it. went to my bank cashed the check, i kept 10% of it which is 400 dollars as his payment to me then i wired the rest of the money to the person he asked me to send the money to. But after the transaction has been done, i just learned today that this might be scam and the cashier's check i cashed might be a falsed check. I was originally going to do 'Portraiture' and focus on 1940's style icons and for my final piece, I was going to make a dress inspired by the 1940's but give it a modern twist and make it something that Audrey Hepburn would wear if she were still alive today... Although, my teacher told me that because I'm doing people, my final piece wouldn't match my topic because it would be sort of like an investigation which means I have to change my whole topic entirely. The final piece I have in mind is still going to look very 1940's no matter what I do my topic on. I have 3 dresses in mind at the moment. To make the first modern, I was thinking I could find a nice, green leopard print (or maybe paint/batik my own if I couldn’t find one that looked quite expensive). The other idea I had for a final piece was to make a dress that also looks 1940's but instead of buying print, I could buy fabric paint and paint flowers all over it. The final idea I had was similar to the second only instead of painting flowers all over it; I could paint a line of them down the front. (I’m sorry if you’re not getting this but you have to be in my head to be able to imagine it, it’s fabulous☺). I know what you’re thinking, for those I could either choose Flowers, Animals or Nature (which would include them both) although, I’m not really a ‘flower person’ and I couldn’t possibly name many flowers in order to explore different kinds. I also may find it becoming very boring and repetitive and I don’t want that to happen encase I loose my concentration and my work quality suffers (like it did at GCSE stage when my topic was Fruit and Vegetables). At the minute, I’m thinking of changing my final piece but I don’t really want to as I want to have a career in Fashion when I leave school so it’s really important to me that I choose clothes.
