Celtic Sarongs

How can I tie/knot a sarong to act as a baby sling for a 3 month old?

I've heard there is a way to tie a sarong so that you can carry a baby around but I'm not quite sure which way to do it. Pictures would be good, but any instructions would be helpful.

  1. Why take the chance, they have them (sling) at www.mgmaternity.com
  2. I believe the ones that are sold are done in a special way and I don't even trust them. Just get a baby carrier.
  3. uuummm.. im lil bit confuse bout wat u mean. but i guess i can help u. u mean like traditional carrying in indonesia? mostly women using a long blanket (thin but strong, u can call that with sarong also), the lenght is around 1.5m. they just put around their body. start put the blanket from left shoulder, then put behind ur back then going to front side (ur chest), put baby close to ur chest then back again to ur left shoulder. and locked it to sarong in ur back (above). uuumm.. sorry i cant explain so detail cuz of my english. but i hope i can answer ur question.
  4. Here in Mexico, women will use a long shawl, called a reboso. It is rectangle shaped, you center it on your back, bring it around, tuck one end under the baby, wrapping around the baby, then the other end bring it over and tuck it in as well. It is very secure, the baby won't and cannot fall out. It is warm and cuddly for the baby as well and puts some of the strain of carrying the baby on your back instead of your arms. It works great. I did it too.
  5. Here are a couple of wesite http://www.thebabywearer.com/lists/Sewing.htm http://www.borntolove.com/frugal-column9.html I highly suggest to read up everything you can before you make your own sling because you don't want to drop your baby at such a young age. Good luck.
